The best chai , the best carrot cake , home made tasty and warmed in house meals. Lovely hosts. Garden setting. What more could you want on a Saturday morning. Hot tip it gets busy, be prepared to wait, it’s worth your while. 👌🏻😋

Lovely setting and nice atmosphere But let’s talk about service: It’s bordering on comical. 4 workers and somehow no one is working the coffee machine, no one is taking orders. 2 people are somehow required to plate and serve some carrot cake. 3 then rubbing out and rewriting things on the chalkboard. All the while, no one is taking orders and the line doesn’t move for, oh, at least 15 minutes. Currarong deserves better.

Laying on the charm, Alma's Currarong Kombi cafe is a family-run affair operated from the garage of the Borbilas family home. On weekends, between the hours of 8am and noon, you can partake of cakes and baked goods from a series of umbrella-shaded tables lining their lush green driveway. To the tune of buzzing bees, we ate bread’n’butter pudding ($8) from twee little plates, served gently warmed with vanilla ice cream. Built from croissants, brandy and custard, it’s a masterpiece. Home-made poppyseed bagels ($12) are teamed mortadella with tomatoes and cheese then lightly toasted. They’re tasty but the showstopper here is the carrot cake ($7.50): wonderfully moist with the perfect amount of soft, cream cheese icing. Team it with a coffee ($4) of your choice made on a machine mounted in the back of a mustard and white Volkswagen Kombi. Bougatsa ($5), a Greek breakfast pastry, makes for a good takeaway product to keep for later in the day. Pastry and semolina custard are perfect to refuel on after spending some time on Currarong Beach.

Alma’ Kombi Cafe is just delightful. Delicious homemade cakes (still warm), scrumptious homemade bagels, and really well made coffee. The garden setting is relaxing and it’s just great. 😊

Close to Holiday haven caravan park. Relaxed outdoor setting. Cafe quality coffee and food is outstanding. Gluten free options that actually taste good.
