21/2/25 - 4 stars A long standing establishment in Campsie and, judging by the comments, quite well loved by locals. It has an unassuming and somewhat unimpressive appearance downstairs, but, upstairs is a bit better furnished. Service is very rudimentary and spacing is a little tight if not in a booth. Food is overall decent. Serving sizes are not bad, flavours are generally quite good and there is a huge amount of choice. Worth a try if you want Malaysian food. Char Kway Teow Flavour: A+, 7.5/10. A little salty? Wok hei is ok but could be more prominent. Not spicy at all. Texture: S+, 8.5/10. Nothing over cooked but it did get a bit dry as there is a lot of rice noodle. No sambal included. Value: S, 8/10. $18.5 for a pretty big serving Hainanese chicken Flavour: S+, 8.5/10. Chicken itself is already quite clean tasting and the base soy sauce was nice Texture: SS, 9/10. One of the better ones I've had. Juicy and tender but no random fat Sides: A, 7/10. Was expecting a chicken broth soup not seaweed soup Value: A+, 7.5/10. $18 Roti canai with rendang Roti: S+, 8.5/10. A bit fluffy yet tender and flaky. Maybe a bit too buttery Rendang: S, 8/10. Curry was nice but some beef pieces were not tender Value: B, 6/10. $19.5

One of Campsie’s most iconic restaurants. A great place to try a variety of Malaysian cuisine. They’ve recently renovated the restaurant, and upstairs is the nicest the restaurant’s ever looked. The food is incredibly tasty, and the portion sizes are massive.

We made a booking, and it’s a good thing we did – the place was packed. We tried a variety of dishes, including Satay Chicken with Coconut Blue Pea Flower Rice, Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken, Char Kway Teow, and Char Yuan Yan. The Char Kway Teow stood out with its smoky wok-hei flavour, while the crispy vermicelli in the Char Yuan Yan was enjoyable but would’ve been better with pickled chillies. For sides, we had Curry Puffs, Prawn Crackers, and Lorbak. The prawn crackers brought back childhood memories, especially with their chilli sauce. We finished with Ice Kachang (ABC), which was refreshing and sweet. Overall, the menu is extensive, and while some dishes were hits, others were just okay. It’s a decent spot for variety, but as expected, not every dish shines when there’s such a large menu.

How long are you willing to wait for a laksa? I'm not talking about waiting in line to get in. I'm talking about after your have already ordered and PAID. Last night we waited 28 minutes for my wife's chicken laksa. By the time it came out I had already finished my beef rendang which came out about 15 minutes earlier. Which was a shame because flavour wise both dishes were very good. Were they busy? Not really, there was only three parties in front of us waiting for food and all in all there were only 6 tables, and 15 patrons in total. Atmosphere? I think they're going for a Penang vibe however in reality the restaurant is too cramped and difficult for larger patrons to navigate without bumping into sharp corners. There is way too much floor space dedicated to staff for order taking and not enough for table seating. Uber eats and other food delivery drivers also appear to take priority, delaying food preparation for done in customers. We will we be back. Even though the food was good.

Definitely a recommended place to fulfill your Malaysian food cravings. Good portions, reasonable pricing, authentic taste and a huge variety that made it hard to choose! Plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs is reserved for less mobile patrons.
